In November 2018, I am taking on a Gutsy Challenge and will be trekking over 65km of the ‘Overland Track’ in Tasmania. Camping with full kit. Those who know me well will know I love walking but the 'carrying my stuff" part will be the challenge! However, carrying a full pack, no doubt in the freezing rain, is nothing, compared to the weight of carrying cancer by patients and their families.
I am raising funds for the GI Cancer Institute to assist with developing and conducting clinical trials in Australia. GI (gastro-intestinal) cancer affects the oesophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bowel. Every 45 minutes an Australian dies because of GI cancer and over 24,000 are diagnosed every year. The five year survival rate is dismally low compared to other cancers so clinical trials are critical to improving treatment and overall outcomes for patients with GI Cancer.
My goal is to raise to 10,000 dollars to help make GI cancer a disease of the past. Your support will give people living with GI cancer better treatments. Please help me to get to the finish line by donating today!
All donations over $2 are tax-deductible and when made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to the GI Cancer Institute.
Thanks so much for your support!
Christine
