Story
Hi there,
I’m undertaking this year's Gutsy Challenge and trekking over 65km through the Tasmanian wilderness to raise awareness and much needed funds for gastro-intestinal clinical trials - a cause that is close to my heart and to which I am committed to improved treatment options for.
Over 24,600 Australians are diagnosed with a GI cancer each year. There have been some substantial advances in the last 30 years, but there is still a long way to go as the death rate is still unacceptably high. As a Gastronintestinal Cancer specialist nurse I see the need for continued progress and the impact on individuals and familes that GI cancer has every day. This is why I am taking on another Gutsy Challenge, having trekked Larapinta last year, to do what I can to support all those affected!
Research in to vital new treatments is essential to improving options and outcomes for these individuals and to provide hope for them and their loved ones.
Please support my efforts by making a secure online donation and by posting a message of support.
Donations made through this platform are secure and will be remitted directly through to the GI Cancer Institute and directed toward new research via their Innovation Fund annual grant.
Thanks so much for your support!
Catherine
