Story

I am undertaking this Gutsy 'Overland' Challenge' - walking over 65km through the Tasmanian Wilderness - Here is why ...

I can remember the phone call. I lost my breath, I just saw and felt white… then cold. Why? Why my Dad? Why? He was heathy? So, full of life! He was a legend! A husband, a father, a grandfather! a Warrior, Pop…Valentino De Giuseppe.

He had stomach cancer and devastatingly once his symptoms where shown it was too late for him. Cancer is a disease of the body and mind and it is not selective on who it chooses. Saying goodbye to my father has had a profound effect on me. I reflected on my life and the main lesson I took from it was to “Live life to the fullest and make sure it’s a life worth remembering”.

What I'm Doing About It...

In honour of my dad and all the others I'm joining the Gutsy ‘Overland’ Challenge in support of GI Cancer research. In November I will take on this 7 day adventure and walk over 60km through theTasmanian Wilderness

You Can Join Me...

I am hoping to raise over $ 3,500 I'm planning to live life the fullest and to make it one worth remembering, and with your help I know together we can make a positive and meaningful impact to those less fortunate!

Gastro-intestinal (GI) cancer affects the oesophagus, stomach, liver, pancreas, gallbladder and bowel. Over 24,000 Australians are diagnosed every year and 33 Australians die every day. That's one person every 45 minutes. The five-year survival rate is just 49% and we want to lift it! GI cancer doesn't get the funding like other cancers. The team are raising funds to support innovative and vital research into gastro-intestinal (GI) cancer, to provide better treatments for people living with GI cancer, with the ultimate aim to make GI cancer a disease of the past. 100% per cent of all funds will be used to fund Gastro-Intestinal (GI) clinical trials research.

Thank you! Nadia De Giuseppe
